Udupi: Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society Ltd., Udupi, recently organized a grand event at Ajjarkad Town Hall, where free notebooks, educational materials, and uniforms worth approximately ₹15 lakhs were distributed to Kannada medium school students. Students who secured high marks were felicitated, and saplings were distributed as part of a green initiative.
The event was inaugurated by Udupi Tahsildar P. Gururaj. Ms. Lavanya K.R., Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Udupi district, addressed the gathering. Other dignitaries present included Udupi City Municipal Corporation Environmental Engineer Raviprakash, Udupi District Co-operative Union CEO Anusha Kotian, Society Vice President George Samuel, Directors Purushotham P. Shetty, Jaya Shetty, Sadashiva Naik, L. Umanath, Vinay Kumar T.A., and Abdul Razak.
Highlights of the Program:
- Felicitation of students who excelled in SSLC and II PUC examinations.
- Distribution of free notebooks, uniforms, and educational materials to students from 35 Kannada medium schools.
- Launch of a sapling distribution drive under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in the Name of Mother), part of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
- Environmental awareness campaign and poster unveiling.
- Announcement of rewards for students who take good care of the saplings.
Society President B. Jayakar Shetty Indrali announced that ₹25 lakhs are allocated annually from the Society’s profits for socially impactful initiatives under the motto “Give back to the source from where you drew”.
Motivational Session:
Trainer Rajendra Bhat K. encouraged students to treat their talent as capital and build self-confidence. He shared the inspirational stories of: Saalumarada Thimmakka, who planted and nurtured over 1,300 trees, Harekala Hajabba, who built a school by selling oranges, Palak Muchhal, who helped fund heart surgeries for 1,300 children through her musical talent.
Society President B. Jayakar Shetty Indrali delivered the welcome and introductory remarks. The event was anchored by Naveen K., Manager of the Malpe branch, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Rajesh V. Sherigar, General Manager of the Society.
