Dr. Basavaraj Hubballi, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, stated that every individual should not only be informed about health education but also lead a healthy life by maintaining good health. He was speaking at the World Health Day event held on Monday at Christian English Medium School in Udupi. The event was organized jointly by the District Health and Family Welfare Department, National Health Mission, Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, District Survey Unit (NCD Unit), District Hospital (NCD Division), Christian English Medium School (Mission Hospital Road, Udupi), Indian Medical Association (Udupi-Karavali), Office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Subdivision), and A.J. Hospital and Research Centre, Mangaluru.
Jayakar Shetty Indrali, President of the Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Dr. Vasudev, Resident Medical Officer of the District Hospital, and Dr. Anjali, District NCD Coordinator, addressed the gathering.
District Surgeon Dr. Ashok presided over the event.
Students from New City College of Nursing performed a short play (skit) on health awareness.
Dr. Vasudev Upadhya, Udupi Taluk Health Officer, Dr. Suresh Shenoy, President of the Indian Medical Association (Udupi-Karavali), Dr. Kamalaksha Shenoy, Head of Radiation Oncology Department, A.J. Hospital, Rajesh Sherigar, CEO of Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Helen, Principal of Christian English Medium School, PSI Eeranna, Manu S.B. (Counselor, District Hospital), faculty, staff and students from New City College of Nursing, District Hospital staff, the general public, and other dignitaries were present.
Health Education Officer Shashidhar welcomed the gathering. Health Inspector Satish Rao compered the event, and Health Education Officer Chandrakala gave the vote of thanks.
The camp included services like diabetes screening, blood pressure check, cardiac examinations (ECG), cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, oral cancer and dental check-up, eye check-up, ENT screening, and lifestyle modification counseling.
There were also sessions on the harmful effects of tobacco and physiotherapy services provided.
Public awareness was created through a short play titled “Health is Wealth”, focusing on the importance of World Health Day.
Songs were used to raise awareness about lifestyle changes, preventive health measures, and the importance of physical exercise.
