Skill Development Training Workshop for Society Staff

A special one-day training workshop was recently organized by the Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society for its staff members at the Hotel Diana conference hall in Udupi. The training was conducted by Mr. Sreesha K.M. from Mastermind Enterprises, a renowned training organization based in Mangalore.

The event was inaugurated by the Society’s President, Mr. Jayakar Shetty Indrali, who emphasized that “Customers are our God.” He stated that such training sessions are essential to adapt to modern changes, manage stress effectively, and provide cheerful and high-quality service to customers while enhancing skills.

During the program, staff members from various branches who achieved the targets set for the financial year 2024–25 were recognized and honored. The event was graced by the Society’s Vice President Mr. George Samuel, Directors Mr. Purushotham P. Shetty and Mr. Sadashiva Naik, and Mr. V.K. Hebbar from Mastermind Enterprises.

The General Manager, Mr. Rajesh V. Sherigar, welcomed the gathering, while Assistant General Manager, Mr. Praveen Kumar, hosted the program. Mr. Naveen K., Branch Manager of Malpe branch, delivered the vote of thanks.

Udupi’s Prestigious Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society Records ₹2,935 Crore Annual Transactions in 2024–25, Earns ₹19.37 Crore Profit

Jayakar Shetty Indrali, President of the esteemed cooperative institution of the state—Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Udupi—announced at a press conference that the society recorded an annual transaction of ₹2,935 crore in the financial year 2024–25, earning a profit of ₹19.37 crore.

The society, which has been rendering meaningful service in the cooperative sector for 107 years, had a share capital of ₹4.83 crore from 21,519 members at the end of the 2024–25 fiscal year.

₹1,050 Crore in All-Time Record Transactions

By the end of the reporting year, the society had collected ₹573 crore in deposits, marking a 12.45% increase over the previous year. Loans were disbursed to members for house construction, vehicle purchases, land acquisition and development, commercial complex and residential apartment construction, self-employment, education, marriage, gold mortgage, and home repairs, based on appropriate documentation. The outstanding loan amount stood at ₹477 crore, reflecting an 18.62% increase from the previous year.

The society possesses reserves of ₹95.18 crore, investments of ₹229.73 crore, and working capital of ₹673.20 crore. Operating across 11 branches, 8 of these are located on the society’s own premises. A 12th branch is set to open soon in the heart of Kundapura, where the society has already purchased its own office space.

The society has received numerous accolades, including 2 national awards, 9 state-level awards, and 18 undivided Dakshina Kannada district-level awards, establishing itself as a successful credit society. Not merely profit-driven, it also undertakes social welfare programs, spending around ₹20 lakhs annually on education, health, and community initiatives.

Chetana Mobile App

As a step toward digitization, the society developed the “Chetana Mobile App”, enabling customers to transfer funds via IMPS/NEFT/RTGS, transfer funds to RD and loan accounts, and access information about new schemes. The app, available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, has received a positive response from users. Customers are encouraged to visit their nearest branch for more information

In line with modernization, daily deposit collections are now also done through a mobile app (Pigmy Mobile App). All branches offer services like safe locker facilities, e-stamping, PAN card services, money transfer, Lombard and Manipal health cards, health and general insurance, “zero balance” student accounts, missed call service, and free SMS alerts. Future Goal – ₹1,500 Crore in Transactions

For the upcoming financial year, the society has set a goal of achieving ₹800 crore in deposits and ₹700 crore in outstanding loans, totaling ₹1,500 crore in business. It is also planning to construct a “Sahakara Soudha” at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore on a 1-acre property purchased in the heart of Udupi.

Branch advisory committees have been established at every branch, and each committee will work on implementing new schemes under the guidance of their members

World Health Day Celebration – 2025 (Free Health Check-up Camp)

Dr. Basavaraj Hubballi, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, stated that every individual should not only be informed about health education but also lead a healthy life by maintaining good health. He was speaking at the World Health Day event held on Monday at Christian English Medium School in Udupi. The event was organized jointly by the District Health and Family Welfare Department, National Health Mission, Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, District Survey Unit (NCD Unit), District Hospital (NCD Division), Christian English Medium School (Mission Hospital Road, Udupi), Indian Medical Association (Udupi-Karavali), Office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Subdivision), and A.J. Hospital and Research Centre, Mangaluru.
Jayakar Shetty Indrali, President of the Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Dr. Vasudev, Resident Medical Officer of the District Hospital, and Dr. Anjali, District NCD Coordinator, addressed the gathering. District Surgeon Dr. Ashok presided over the event.
Students from New City College of Nursing performed a short play (skit) on health awareness. Dr. Vasudev Upadhya, Udupi Taluk Health Officer, Dr. Suresh Shenoy, President of the Indian Medical Association (Udupi-Karavali), Dr. Kamalaksha Shenoy, Head of Radiation Oncology Department, A.J. Hospital, Rajesh Sherigar, CEO of Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Helen, Principal of Christian English Medium School, PSI Eeranna, Manu S.B. (Counselor, District Hospital), faculty, staff and students from New City College of Nursing, District Hospital staff, the general public, and other dignitaries were present.
Health Education Officer Shashidhar welcomed the gathering. Health Inspector Satish Rao compered the event, and Health Education Officer Chandrakala gave the vote of thanks.

The camp included services like diabetes screening, blood pressure check, cardiac examinations (ECG), cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, oral cancer and dental check-up, eye check-up, ENT screening, and lifestyle modification counseling.
There were also sessions on the harmful effects of tobacco and physiotherapy services provided.
Public awareness was created through a short play titled “Health is Wealth”, focusing on the importance of World Health Day.
Songs were used to raise awareness about lifestyle changes, preventive health measures, and the importance of physical exercise.

Udupi: Marpalli Shankar Sherigar, who has served the Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society for a long time, was felicitated by the organization. Initially appointed on a temporary basis, Shankar Sherigar gradually rose through the ranks, serving as Junior Clerk and then Senior Clerk. He later worked as a Branch Manager in various branches and also served diligently in the loan recovery department and as a Sales Officer. Now retired as a Branch Manager, Shankar Sherigar was honored by the society for his dedicated service. The President of the Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, B. Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Vice President George Samuel, General Manager Rajesh V. Sherigar, along with the board members and staff, extended their best wishes for his future filled with success and well-being.

Free Health Checkup Camp, Rajangana Sri Krishna Matha Udupi

A free health check-up camp was held at the Rajangana of Sri Krishna Math under the auspices of Paryaya Sri Krishna Math, in collaboration with Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Lions Club Udupi Indrali, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Indian Medical Association Udupi Karavali and Women’s Doctors’ Unit, Indian Dental Association, and A.J. Institute of Dental Sciences with the participation of expert doctors.
The camp was inaugurated by His Holiness Paryaya Sripad Puttige Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji by lighting the lamp. A workshop on “The Importance of Nutritional Food for Good Health” was conducted.
Specialists conducted various health check-ups, including general health, dental, eye tests, diabetes, blood pressure check-ups, cervical cancer screening for women, and bone density tests. A large number of the public participated and benefited from the camp.

Aadhaar Correction and New Enrollment Camp along with Free Health Check-up Camp.

The Badagubettu Credit Co-operative Society, in collaboration with the India Post Udupi Division, organized an Aadhaar correction and new enrollment camp under the Postal Outreach Campaign, along with a free health check-up camp in association with C.S.I. Lombard Memorial (Mission Hospital). The event took place at the premises of Christian English Medium School, with active participation from Christian English Medium School and Christian Pre-University College.
The camp was inaugurated by Ramesh Prabhu, Superintendent of Posts, Udupi Division, in the presence of esteemed guests. Krishna Raj Vitthal Bhat, Assistant Superintendent of Posts, Udupi South Sub-Division, delivered the introduction. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Jayakar Shetty Indrali, President of Badagubettu Society.-University College.
Key guests included Ramesh Kanchan, Udupi Municipal Council member; Dr. Ganesh Kamath, Senior Medical Officer of Mission Hospital; Helen V. Salins, Principal of Christian English Medium School; and Shwetha Srinivas, Principal of Christian Pre-University College. George Samuel, Vice President of the Society, was also present on the dais.
Over 200 individuals benefited from the Aadhaar correction and new enrollment campaign, while more than 150 people participated in the free health check-up camp.

Badagabettu Society Secures State-Level Best Co-operative Society Award for the 9th Time

The Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society has once again been honored with the State-level Best Co-operative Society Award for its outstanding contributions to the co-operative sector. This marks the society’s ninth win at the prestigious 71st All India Co-operative Week state-level event held in Mangaluru.
The award was received by the society’s president, Mr. Jayakar Shetty Indrali, in the presence of prominent dignitaries, including:

Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The flag hoisting ceremony marked the inauguration of the 71st All India Co-operative Week at Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society. Society President Jayakar Shetty Indrali unfurled the flag to commemorate the occasion.
